The Tulalip Tribes is a federally recognized tribe
and successors in interest to the Snohomish,
Snoqualmie, Skykomish, and other allied tribes and
bands that signed the 1855 Treaty of Point Elliott.
The Tulalip Education Division is a comprehensive program that offers support and resources to the youth and families of the Tulalip community. Its sub-programs include Youth and Family Enrichment, Administration and Family Resources, Homework Support, Positive Youth Development, Higher Education, and the Lushootseed Department. The primary goal of these programs is to provide Tulalip youth with the necessary tools and support to succeed academically, personally, and professionally. By promoting positive youth development and leadership skills, the Tulalip Education Division aims to empower the younger generation to become positive role models for their community.
In 2015, the Legislature passed Senate Bill 5433 modifying the original 2005 legislation, now requiring the Since Time Immemorial: Tribal Sovereignty in Washington state or other tribally-developed curriculum be taught in all schools. The use of the Since Time Immemorial curriculum has been endorsed by all 29 federally recognized tribes.
